Court Ordered Parenting Classes

As couples with children go through a divorce, their best intentions as parents often become clouded by personal emotional distress. As a result, the children suffer a great deal. They can end up with a less supportive home life, they struggle to cope with the loss they have suffered and they have trouble communicating their own stress to their parents — the people they need most.

A child’s best interests influence every decision we make at Kevin Moser Law, PLLC. In some cases, our clients come to us when they are at risk of losing custody their children. In others, they are concerned that their spouse is putting the child in danger. Fortunately, Kentucky is known for its exemplary program, Families in Transition (FIT), which provides divorcing couples and children guidance on how to work through these complex issues.

This six-hour educational session brings to light issues that parents do not often realize in divorce proceedings. Parents are given tools to resolve disputes on their own, reduce aggression and retain a collaborative approach to parenting after the divorce is final.

Are FIT Classes Required For My Family?

Participation in FIT classes may be mandatory for you and your family, but you will not have to attend classes with your former spouse. One parent and child(ren) will attend separate sessions at the same time. The other parent can attend at an entirely different time.

Being forced into court ordered parenting classes may feel like just another hurdle to putting your divorce behind you, but at Kevin Moser Law, PLLC, we have seen the positive effects it has on families. It has been shown to reduce anxiety and behavioral problems in children and the need for court intervention in these highly personal matters.
