The Area We Serve

Kenton County, Kentucky and other areas we serve are part of the Greater Cincinnati area. Fort Mitchell’s origins date to fortifications erected for the defense of Cincinnati during the Civil War. It is in Kenton County, which ranks third among Kentucky counties in population and has two official county seats (Covington and Independence).

Kenton County has rural areas in the southern parts of county and more urbanized areas in the northern parts that are closer to Cincinnati. The overall population is over 150,000.

The county has five school districts, as well as an extensive Catholic school system and Thomas More College.

Cultural attractions include:

• Railway Museum of Greater Cincinnati – Located in Covington, the museum offers displays of railroad cars and memorabilia, as well as a gift shop and a capacity to host banquets.
• Historic Linden Grove Cemetery and Arboretum – Located in Covington, the cemetery was set up in 1843 by a Baptist seminary. The grounds span 22 acres and walking tours are available.
• James A. Ramage Civil War Museum – Located at Fort Wright, the museum’s mission is to preserve and interpret artifacts concerning Kentucky’s role in the Civil War.
